Student Prizes

In 2006 we were pleased to announce the establishment of a new partnership with the Image Analysis Unit in the University of Brighton's Faculty of Science and Engineering. With the aim of raising the profile of electron microscopy among undergraduate students, our annual scholarship, project prize and internship scheme were launched.

Quorum Technologies Scholarship
The Quorum Technologies Scholarship was created to build on the existing business relationship between us and our local university. The £3,000 scholarship is held within the Image Analysis Unit in the University of Brighton’s School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Science and is awarded to an outstanding student whose use of electron microscopy is crucial to the success of their final year project.

As the scholarship was introduced, Quorum Technologies Managing Director Bob Kenhard commented:

“We are delighted to support the field of electron microscopy through this annual Quorum Technologies Scholarship, which we feel certain will help to raise the profile of this important analytical science among students.”

Dr Gary Phillips from the Image Analysis Unit added:

“This builds on our existing collaboration with this specialist company and is an important element of our increasing focus on business engagement to enhance the employability of our graduates and ensures that the University provides graduates to meet the skills requirements of local business and industry.”

Quorum Technologies project prize and internships

Alongside the scholarship, an annual prize of £750 is awarded in recognition of the most outstanding final year project where the use of electron microscopy is shown to be critical to the success of the project. The winner of this is announced at the Graduation Ceremony each July.

Bob Kenhard added: “We are particularly pleased to be able to work with a local university which has nationally and internationally recognised research and teaching staff in the vital areas of science and engineering. Through associated internships we also hope to introduce suitable students to the world of manufacturing.”
