Purpose Of Job

Quorum Technologies are currently recruiting for a Production Planner & Scheduler, reporting in to the Operations Director. This is an exciting opening to join a progressive Scientific Instrument manufacturing company. Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining the production plan in SAP Business One (MRP/MPS) ensuring that customer delivery commitments can be met.
  • Agree forward schedule requirements with Sales, Production and Buyer to meet business needs (S&OP).
  • Load the agreed forecasts for all Quorum products onto the company ERP system (SAP Business One).
  • Working closely with the Buyers, to ensure that materials and parts are available to meet customer demand / forecast.
  • Load and generate Works Orders (WOs) onto the ERP system, in line with the agreed forecast and demand.
  • Work with the Production Manager and the Stores Team to ensure the accurate closedown of completed WOs to Stock for onward kitting or despatch, verifying that the WO costs are as expected and have been processed correctly.
  • Work closely with Buyers and Production Engineers to ensure that all ERP parts are set up correctly to optimise availability and stock holding.
  • Ensure and help maintain accurate planning parameters of all parts / Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Ensure and help maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Ensure all planned work supports on-time delivery of the product.
  • Support the business by producing regular reports/SAP queries as required (e.g. stock accuracy, slow moving stock, inventory holding, stock forecasts).
  • Work with Design Engineering to plan new product introductions.
  • Support Design improvement meetings and manage the introduction of ECN’s, ensuring stock continuity without over stocking.
  • Deputise for the Manufacturing Support Engineer (e.g. creating new part numbers and BOMs).
  • Ensure weekly PI Counts are performed by stores personnel and that the necessary system transactions are completed in the ERP system; completed count sheets to be countersigned by the Operations Director.
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by Management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A good general level of education evidenced by O-level/ good GCSE passes in English, Maths and one Science subject.
  • A qualification in Supply Chain Management would be a distinct advantage (e.g. Diploma, IoSCM course or relevant Degree).
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.

Required Experience

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they have:

  • Relevant planning experience working in an electro-mechanical production environment.
  • Relevant experience using both MPS and MRP modules of an ERP system.

Preferred Experience

While not essential, the following experience would be a distinct advantage:

  • Experience using SAP Business One (ERP system).
  • Experience gained using Lean manufacturing techniques (e.g. Kaizen, Kan-ban, 5S, VSM, etc.).

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge and experience of MRP / ERP systems and the ability to quickly learn complex software applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of raising and processing Works Orders and associated stock transactions through ERP/MRP systems.
  • Process literacy; defined as the ability to understand and manage processes involved in moving materials and sub-assemblies through production to finished goods.
  • Computer skills, including ERP/MRP systems and the MS Office suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation capabilities.
  • Must have the personality to be able to fit into a small team.
  • Essential that individual is highly motivated, pro-active and able to work unsupervised.
  • Must be flexible and prepared to carry out other reasonable requests.
  • Must be able to work in a modern team-based culture with minimal direction.

Lines of Communication to:

Internal: Buyers, Stores, Production, Sales, R&D Engineering, Customer Service.

External: Suppliers and sub-contractors.
