Food & Plant Sciences, Micro & Molecular Biology

This SEM image captures mould growing on a carrot. A small section was cut, mounted onto a cryo stub, plunge-frozen in liquid nitrogen, fractured, and coated with platinum (10 mA, 60 s) using the PP3010. Imaging was performed on a Zeiss Crossbeam 550. Image courtesy of the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC), by Nicola Weston and Dr. Chris Parmenter. Colourised by Steve Gschmeissner.
