The earwig was mounted using mounting media (50:50 mixture of Tissue-Tek OCT (Optimal Cutting Temperature) compound and colloidal graphite). A PP3010 cryo preparation system was used to vitrify in slushed nitrogen (LN2) at -207 °C, and sputter coated with 5 nm of platinum.
