Mouse Small Intestine

The SEM image shows a cross-section of the small intestine of a mouse. The sample was chemically fixed and cryo-protected in glycerol. The sample was mounted using mounting media (50:50 mixture of Tissue-Tek OCT and colloidal graphite). Using the PP3010 Cryo Preparation System, the sample was frozen in slush LN₂, cryo fractured, sublimated (2 minutes) and coated with Pt (5 mA, 30 seconds) at -150 °C.
