Salt Deposits in Black Volcanic Sand

The SEM image shows salt deposits in black volcanic sand from Tenerife, collected by aspiring scientist Samuel, age 10. The sand was dried at 60 °C for 30 minutes, coated with 5 nm Pt using the Rota Cota stage on the TurboQ ES, and imaged using a Thermo Scientific Apreo ChemiSEM.
