Robbie began his career in engineering within electron microscopy before returning to academia to pursue a full-time PhD. He holds a PhD in Applied Physics, specialising in advanced electron and ion microscopy characterisation techniques.
With nearly eight years of experience as an Account Manager and three of those dedicated to industrial customers, Robbie combines deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of client needs. He is passionate about helping customers solve complex microscopy challenges and welcomes conversations on any related topic.
The Presenters
Dr. Helena Bland Application Scientist, Quorum Technologies
Dr. Helena Bland joined Quorum Technologies as an Application Specialist in 2024. She completed her integrated Master’s degree in Chemistry with Biological and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of York.
Following her degree she worked as a Research assistant at the University of Helsinki, specialising in carbohydrate synthesis. Helena completed her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Sussex, where she synthesised leptin peptides and investigated their impact on the aggregation of amyloid-β and tau, using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In her role at Quorum Technologies, Helena delivers technical expertise and guidance to the company’s global customer base, working closely with users to understand their specific workflow requirements and recommend tailored, application‑based solutions. Through her support, Helena helps customers optimise the performance of their systems, adapt to evolving scientific and technical needs and achieve reliable, high‑quality results in their work.
Jesse Claes Senior SEM Applications Scientist, Thermo Fisher Scientific
Jesse Claes is a Senior SEM Application Scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, with over a decade of experience in electron microscopy and advanced materials characterisation. In his role, he supports customers across a wide range of applications through demonstrations, hands-on training, and tailored solutions for SEM workflows. He works closely with R&D to evaluate new software and instrumentation, while also supporting service and product marketing teams with application expertise. His focus is on helping users optimise imaging conditions and solve complex analytical challenges.
