Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Returns
In the European Union (EU), waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is now subject to regulation designed to prevent the disposal of such waste and to encourage prior treatment measures to minimise the amount of waste ultimately disposed.
The objective of this regulation is to preserve, protect and improve the quality of the environment, protect human health, and utilise natural resources prudently. In particular, the WEEE Directive requires that producers of electronic equipment be responsible for the collection, reuse, recycling and treatment of WEEE which the producer places on the EU market on or after 13 August 2005. Quorum Technologies Ltd, as an electrical/electronics producer, endeavours to meet these environmental responsibilities for managing WEEE.

Returns Policy
To comply with the WEEE Directive, Quorum Technologies Ltd has expanded its existing product take-back programme to cover collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of all electrical and electronic equipment sold by Quorum Technologies Ltd into the 27 EU Member States on or after 13 August 2005. When Quorum Technologies Ltd is the producer of such equipment, Quorum Technologies Ltd will take back WEEE, including sub-assemblies, components and consumables which are part of Quorum Technologies Ltd’s equipment, from its customers within the EU.
WEEE Collection Process
If you have purchased Quorum Technologies Ltd-branded Polaron or Emitech SEM sample preparation products in the EU on or after 13 August 2005 and are intending to discard these products at the end of their useful life, please do not dispose of them with your other household or municipal waste. Quorum Technologies Ltd has labelled its electronic products with the WEEE label to alert our customers that products bearing this label should not be disposed of in a landfill or with municipal or household waste in the EU. Instead, please be aware that Quorum Technologies Ltd is making a return and collection system available to you for discarding these products.
When Quorum Technologies Ltd-branded EEE sold into the EU has reached the end of it’s useful life, Quorum Technologies Ltd collects the WEEE from our customers and routes it to our treatment centres in the UK where the waste will be audited and screened for disposition. Where possible, the products will be reused in Quorum Technologies Ltd’s remanufacturing operation or sold. Material that cannot be reused in some form is recycled by Quorum Technologies Ltd’s asset recovery contractor. A significant portion of Quorum Technologies Ltd’s returns are recovered, either by remanufacturing, reselling or recycling with minimal waste being sent to landfill.
To help in the proper handling of electronic products at the end of their useful life, Quorum Technologies Ltd requests you return those products using the instructions provided here, so that the products can be collected, dismantled for reuse and recycled, or properly disposed of. To return these products to Quorum Technologies Ltd, please contact us for WEEE returns form which needs to be fully competed and returned to us. Once the form is submitted, you will be contacted by a representative from Quorum Technologies Ltd within two working days either to request follow-up information or for scheduling the WEEE collection.
Historical WEEE
While the WEEE Directive does not require that Quorum Technologies Ltd collect historical WEEE from products purchased by our customers before 13 August 2005, Quorum Technologies Ltd will evaluate your request to take back such historical waste. A WEEE management fee may apply to such waste. To initiate your request related to historical waste, the application form highlighted above must be completed and submitted to Quorum Technologies Ltd. A Quorum Technologies Ltd representative will then contact you for further information.
